Fall Session 2017
September 5 – December 15, 2017
Classes for ages 2 – 14 years
Beyond the Book (Age 2 years w/ adult)
Find yourself inside your favorite storybooks! Become The Very Hungry Caterpillar and learn about metamorphosis; get sticky with If you Give a Pig a Pancake and explore how trees give us maple syrup; or go on a trip with Harold and the Purple Crayon and experiment with color, as we explore a different book and practice early problem solving skills each week.
Little Thinkers (Age 3 years)
Jump start skills in STEM and literacy with fun, hands-on activities designed specifically for young learners. Build early creative problem solving and critical thinking skills though science, crafts and games with engaging themes like magnets, water, animals, color, and more.
Mind Movers (Age 4-5 years)
In this early introduction to STEM and literacy, your child will build problem solving and critical / creative thinking skills through fun, hands on activities like science, crafts, cooking, and games. Making slime, exploring animal habitats, discovering outer space, and experimenting with surfacing tension are examples of some of our captivating themes.
S.T.E.M. Explorers (Grades K-5)
Explore hands-on, real-world projects in S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) while challenging your problem solving and creative thinking with fun, hands-on projects. Design a roller coaster, program a robot, investigate the bounce of a ball, build your own “flinker” or create a balloon-powered car. These are just some of the challenges we will dig into in S.T.E.M. Explorers.
Each level of S.T.E.M. Explorers has a unique curriculum designed specifically for that age group.
Math Masters (Grades 1-2 & 3-4)
Math is everywhere in the world around us – let’s have fun exploring it with hands-on, real-world based projects. Create the most profitable lemonade stand, design scaled blueprints and floor plans, or make and break codes – these are just some of the projects our Math Masters will do.
Please note this class is intend for children who enjoy math and are looking for opportunities to expand their math experience. This class will not be directly teaching the skills taught in the 3rd or 4th grade math curriculum, rather using those skills and new ones to find fun ways to apply math.
Gadget Design Club (Grades 6-8)
Do you love to design and build things? This class is for you! Filled with scientific experiments and open ended design projects, this class includes many areas of STEM (physics, chemistry, robotics and more). Taking place in our workshop, you’ll also learn how to properly use hand and power tools, solder and many other skills important for building and prototyping.
